Anonymous RBT Job Search: How to Look Without Your Employer Knowing
Is there a site where RBTs can look for jobs anonymously, without their employer knowing? Yes. On ABAshifts, companies see an anonymous label such as RBT-A8F3, your availability, years of experience, specializations and self-reported certification status. They do not see your name, email, phone number, home address or current employer. Your identity is revealed only when a company you are interested in expresses interest back.
That is the short answer. The rest of this post explains what is visible at each step, what changes when interest is mutual, and the three things anonymity does not cover, so you can decide how to use the platform.
Why RBTs search quietly
Most RBTs who look for a new job are still working. Many like their company and only want a different schedule, a shorter drive, or a pay range that matches their experience. Others are testing the market before they decide anything. In every one of those cases the worry is the same: a manager finds your profile before you are ready to talk.
General job sites were not built for that. Before you upload a resume anywhere, check that site's resume privacy settings and who can search it.
What companies see while you browse
ABAshifts was built the other way around. The company's name, the job's weekly schedule, the location, the drive time from your home and the pay range are visible to you from the start. You stay anonymous.
Visible to companies while you browse
- Your anonymous label (for example, RBT-A8F3)
- Your availability schedule
- Your years of experience, specializations and self-reported certification status
- Your drive time to the job, calculated from approximate areas
- Your bio, if you write one
Hidden until interest is mutual
- Your real name
- Your email and phone number
- Your resume and your certification number
Never shared on the platform
- Your home address, which is used only to calculate drive time
- Your current employer, which ABAshifts never requests or shows
What changes when interest is mutual
When you express interest in a job and that company expresses interest in you, the match opens automatically. There is no separate confirmation step. The company then sees your name, your contact details and your resume, and a message thread opens so you can talk about the job. The company hires you directly. ABAshifts is not a staffing agency and never employs you.
Expressing interest in one job reveals nothing to any other company. If you express interest in two jobs at two companies and only one of them is interested back, only that one sees who you are.
Three things anonymity does not cover
Anonymity on the platform is one-sided until interest is mutual, and it is strong. Three things still depend on you.
- Your bio is public. The free-text bio on your profile is visible to companies while you browse. If you write "currently at [company name] in Richmond", you have identified your employer yourself. Describe your experience by setting and age group instead, for example "three years in-home and clinic, early intervention through school age."
- Your resume is shared once interest is mutual. It is hidden until then. After a match opens, the company reads whatever is on it, including where you work now. That is true of any hiring process. The difference is that you chose that company first, and you can keep the resume you upload to ABAshifts focused on experience rather than employer names.
- A distinctive profile in a small market. Companies see your availability, years of experience and specializations. In a small town, a rare combination can be recognizable to someone who already knows you. If that is a concern, keep your specializations broad until interest is mutual.
Is it allowed to look while you are employed?
Generally, yes. RBTs are W-2 employees and are free to look for other employment, like anyone else. Read your employment agreement for non-compete or exclusivity clauses before you accept another job, and treat this as general information rather than legal advice.
Where this leaves a working RBT
- Browse full-time and part-time ABA jobs near you, with the company name, schedule, drive time and pay range visible before you act. 5 signs a part-time ABA case will actually work for you is a good checklist for reading a listing.
- Express interest only in jobs you would actually take, and only then does a company learn who you are. How to find part-time ABA cases that fit your schedule explains why schedule first is the right order.
- Keep your credential current while you look. RBTs who certify or recertify from 2026 on move to a two-year cycle with 12 PDUs per cycle (BACB).
ABAshifts is always free for therapists.
